Using A Standing Desk Two Months Later

It currently is a lot cleaner right now!

A little over 2 months ago I shared my DIY build for a standing desk. During this time there have been a few ups and downs that I wanted to share with you, just in case you wanted to build your own.

What I love:

-More space! There is a lot more space now that my monitor, keyboard and mouse have their very own home. There is a ton of space under that keeps my desk clean looking.

-No more sticky note murder. When I built them, I picked out the white glossy tables knowing that I would use them as a whiteboard. I write notes on them all the time, and if I need the note I just take a picture of it on my phone and email it to myself. My boss will even leave messages for me rather than emailing me or using digging around to find a sticky note, which he loves!

-No more back pain! My back was really starting to kill me after sitting all day and then going home to sit. I had no energy, and no focus. I am 25! There was really no reason for me to feel so crappy. But with a standing desk, it has helped get rid of back pain, gets me up and moving, and I feel really good going home and relaxing.

-It inspired others to start asking for one. Others saw my little creation and started to ask if they could do the same. So when the presidents of 2 different companies saw it, they agreed that they needed to spend the money on getting standing desks.

What I have not liked so much:

- The shelf fell down. And by down I mean off! The way it was put together, the shelf easily detached from the base and now I am using a stool to temporarily hold my keyboard while I find a permanent solution to fix my other.

-Never being able to sit. There are days when mother nature needs me to sit, but with this form I cannot sit without it being uncomfortable and awful.

-Seeing everyone in my office. I love people in my offices but it really is weird being able to watch their every move from their desk to the bathroom. Talk about awkward.

The pro's really outweigh the cons, and I do really love my standing desk. But there are a number of ways that I want to improve it.

Have you tried to do your own standing desk?

Weekly Wednesday Confessions

-I am currently in class (on Tuesday) typing this up, listening to my teacher critiquing other peoples websites and blogs. She keeps trying to point out that you NEED the widgets on the side bar with call to actions. I will just stick with buttons because it is cleaner.

-There is some big stuff that will be happening work wise, but I cannot share just yet. I am so excited and terrified at the same time.

-I am irritated that the people who put together the company website did not get EVERY aspect of the design from the design company. It resulted in me spending over 4 hours of figuring out how to convert a jpg into a vector image. How hard is it to get the logo and all of the content relating to the logo from a person when you paid for it??

-For that reason I have decided to take web design and Adobe classes this next semester. I pay for the products, I should know how to use them.

-I have 3/4 of my assignment for creative writing written and I actually really like it. I hated my last piece and thought it was crap, which makes me judge everyone in my class who said it was good.

-I am slightly irritated that some of the bigger bloggers and local bloggers that I followed have literally fallen off of every map possible. I understand taking a break, but 6+ months of nothing is a bit excessive.

-I just learned what postmates is and now I am trying to figure out what the catch is... because offering delivery of Starbucks automatically makes me think there is a catch.

-I have started fights with people when they say that Game Of Thrones was not very good this past Sunday. Yea sure no tragic deaths, but seriously it set up the season perfectly!

Tunes to Enjoy:

Have a happy Hump Day!

April Goals

I know, I am only like a week late for this. I mean where is the time going?! Well after an eventful March, it is on to April. I am so proud of work because we brought on another new person, got the green light on quite a few little projects, and I am currently ordering marketing stuff that we have never had the chance to get before. We had the entire team in last week, which was a first in company history, and had a blast catching up and getting shit done!

How I did on March Goals:

1.)Spending Freeze: I made it the majority of the month and then the last week or so went to Crap. So I have made adjustments and am continuing it into April.

2.)Order Contacts! Fail. Apparently once your prescription hits within a month of needing renewal Costco wants a new prescription.... Or at least mine does.

3.) Post 12 new posts. <--HAHAHA! I think this was possibly the worst month for posting on either blog.

4.) Bring my lunch to work all month. Again, did really well up until the last week or so. And then I found the most amazing place in the whole wide world, that you can build your own enchiladas. I was done for from that point on.

5.) Clean up my Living Room. I cleaned up a few times but not like I wanted to. It went from being 72 and beautiful to 95 and allergies from hell in a matter of 3 days.

6.) Re-Organize My Closet. Let's just say anything NOT in a laundry basket is getting the ax. I looked through my closet and asked myself why I still owned 3/4 or it, so I started finding the things I loved and wearing those, and everything else is going buh bye! Just need a couple of boxes to put it all in.

April Goals:

1.) Do all the homework! I have been seriously behind on a few assignments, and I really need to catch that crap back up. I know one class I just need to figure our what the teacher has actually received and what she hasn't. The other I need to resubmit for a better grade.

2.) Spending Freeze Part Two. Apparently I am queen at planning vacations this year because now I have two planned and one on hold until I get the dates. The only thing I have to do is get a hotel for Elevated, and wait for dates on the second.

3.) Business cards! Since I am traveling to Elevated this month, I really need to get my business cards up and going. I love Moo and the fact that I can have 4-5 different back covers to it, but just need to get the graphics done and get them ordered.

4.) Road trip Playlist. I love creating new playlists, so this seems like it is going to be simple stupid for me! Anyone have any songs/artists the want to recommend?

5.) Get work ready for Summer. The one thing to know about my job is that the moving industry, no matter what area, is always busiest during the summer. Even moving cars. In less than a month, I will be eating, drinking, breathing and even sleep-working work. So I have to prepare not only myself, but my little employee too since this is her first year.

6.) Post More. Like I need more than 4 posts this month. I really need to get back to scheduling stuff.

I hope everyone had a Fantastic Easter!

#jadoredessange by Influenster

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

About a month ago the lovely gift fairies over at Influenster sent me some pretty cool swag to try out. And yes it did take me a month to test this out, because hair care is pretty serious business. So here are the Details:

Dessange Paris California Blonde Illuminating Shampoo and Conditioner:
I received full sizes of both which was amazing! I had just ran out of shampoo and conditioner so, perfect timing on their part. The shampoo lathered really well, and the conditioner was thick but not heavy. My biggest problem was the smell. Of course I opened the box and smelled the shampoo and conditioner and BAM! It was very perfume"y" and the smell lingered. It was so strong that when I got a little on my nose, it stayed there all day long.

Brass Color Correcting Creme:
The directions for this product scared the crap out of me. I mean you have to test your skin to make sure your not allergic and there are a bunch or warnings. If this could cause serious damage you probably shouldn't sent it to me. But the biggest thing was you had to wait 5-10 minutes with it in your hair and then rinse it out. Okay, there is no way that I normally take more than a 3 minute shower. But after I used it, I did get compliments and asked if I did something with my hair. So I guess it did something.

Sooo... Would I buy this again, probably not. I am all about the smell of a shampoo and this one just did not work for me. All in all it would be about a 2.5 out of a 5.

Did you get this box? What did you think?
