Currently (vol. 2)

Reading.. Attachments By Rainbow Rowell. So far it's pretty cute and I like it. I am hoping to have it finished by the weekend.
Listening.. Right now, Drunk on a Plane by Dierks Bentley, but lately a ton of country. I also have my headphones in to drown out the sound of other people to focus.

Thinking.. Why is all the rum gone? But really, I am trying to think of how I am going to pull off trying to watch my dog and someone else's dog at the same time because the people who were supposed to help with my dog are assholes.

Smelling.. My shampoo, I left it down today and it smells yummy. I love it when you buy the right kind of shampoo and it just smells good. Now I don't have Nexxus which is my ultimate favorite hair smell, but my current is not too bad.
Wishing.. I could go on vacation this weekend. Everyone, and I mean everyone I know is leaving the state and I am stuck here. It sucks.

Hoping..that I made all of the right choices, okay one good choice in the Chipotle and Puppies Fantasy Football League. I had no clue what I was doing... NONE!

Wearing.. I am pretty sure that I am wearing the exact thing I was my last currently. Jeans, tanktops, and sandels.

Loving.. PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE!!!

Wanting.. More Ink. I made the mistake of going on the tattoo's section of Pinterest. If my mom didn't have her rules then this girl would probably already have a full sleeve.
Needing.. it to be noon so that I can get the hell out of the office today. COME ON 12PM!!
Feeling.. Like although it is going to be a boring, chaotic weekend, it is still going to be a good one.
Giving away.. (well I am part of a couple of giveaways)

Kylea without coffee.....

Since I am not at my house with my Keurig, which is probably the thing I miss most,  I do not get to have coffee while I am getting ready for the day. This means that for the majority of the morning I am walking around like a zombie. Well this morning I realized quite a few things while I was attempting to get ready for work. I would classify them as Kylea Awkward Moments, because I literally stop everything I am doing just to think it through.

So this morning I experienced that awkward moment when I realize that I tried to leave the house without my glasses. Which I need in order to see.

I had that awkward moment, where I threw Ghillie's perfectly good food in the trash can, because I though it was the stuff that he left in there the night before. That I had already thrown away.

There was also the awkward moment while I was brushing my teeth and realized what I was missing on Monday and Wednesday nights on TV... Because my toothpaste was frothy and it reminded me of an animal with rabies which reminded me of werewolves. That ultimately reminded me of the fact that Teen Wolf is on Mondays. Which is on MTV, with Finding Carter, which is what I watch on Wednesday. I have missed two weeks worth of both.

I also realized that tonight is my Fantasy Football draft.... And then I had the slow realization that I have no idea what I am doing. So instead of finishing putting my pants on I stop halfway through and start looking stuff up on my kindle.

Come on Kylea.

But I was relieved to know that mine is at 9pm while those on the east coast have to stay up until 12a to do their portion. I'm ok with this.

I also had the awkward moment of realizing that I left all of the lights on, the doors unlocked, and half of the stuff for my hobby day table at home. While I was in the drive thru at Starbucks.

But after consuming my Venti Iced Quad Pumpkin Spice Latte (no whip) I found that my brain is functioning on the proper level. I should never be allowed to function before I have had my coffee.

Have you guys gotten your Pumpkin Spice Lattes yet???

Waffle Day!

My office is one of those offices that does super fun and cool events. Why? Well because there are a bunch of super cool, super fun girls that plan, prepare, and poor our hearts into a single committee to make it fun. These work events are to create a happy and people oriented culture in the office. And sometimes, well we out do ourselves.

This past Friday, we had a Waffle Day among all of the offices. In Phoenix there were two of us that hosted the event. Obviously I was one of the two. We literally planned the event all month; deciding the flavor of waffles, the toppings, and the decorations. We split up the grocery lists and took a flavor of waffle to prep for the event. We knew that the office loved free food but we underestimated how much.

I took Chocolate Waffles; and you can imagine how excited I was to make chocolate waffles. (Pretty darn excited!)  So I planned it out found all of the measurements and recipes that I needed. Weeellllll one thing you should know is that I either buy too much of one item or not enough. In this case, I did not buy enough buttermilk. So after 3 trips to the grocery store, I finally had all of my batter mix pre-made.

(This is what 6 batches of chocolate waffles looks like)

This was one of our most successful events to date. We even had guests in the office that joined in on the fun and had a waffle. Myself and the other committee member only ended up making one batch of waffles a piece, but everyone was still in love with what we had done.

We were able to find the craft paper table cloth idea on Pinterest and the quote about waffles on there as well. Gotta love Pinterest! We had every topping that one could ever desire, including brown bourbon peaches. AND we made sure that the place was decked out in decor (complete with a picture of Donkey).

Tomorrow is hobby day, which of course means that I am scrapbooking and blogging while at work! But thankfully that is all I have to do this time around.

Does your work place hold cool events like this? Do you think it helps support culture in the work place?

Sleep Working

I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but apparently I have a really bad case of sleep working. NormallyI just have really vivid dreams about working. Those dreams happened all of the time when I worked at Target.

I would literally be dreaming that I was sitting up in bed, with a cash register mysteriously attached to the side somehow, and people would walk up to my bed and I would ring them out. BUT when there was no total at the end after all of my fast, fancy cashier skills had been done; I would look at the dream person and say "looks like it's free!" It was the same thing every time.

That's nothing right? Sounds harmless.

Well apparently the work dreams have graduated to Sleep Working. Meaning I pulled my laptop out of the case, turned it on, opened my work email, and started typing up emails last night.  And for the record opening my work email and getting past entering the passwords for all three inboxes I control is a pain in the ass awake. How I did it while sleeping, who fucking knows.

It's a good thing that I forgot my charger at the office, because when I mentioned typing emails I really mean that I had started drafting full emails. The majority of the emails were to my boss about Payables and then throw a few orders to send out to carriers in mix. Apparently I am a productive sleep worker.  I didn't find them until this morning when I plugged my laptop in and Outlook popped up on my screen. I didn't use Outlook while I was home last night.

Best part is that I don't even remember doing this. I had to double check my UP24 to make sure that it registered that I was awake. It did... from 1:30a-2:00a.

I MEAN WHO DOES THIS?????

I think I have gone bonkers... please send help and wine.

Ok maybe just the wine.

Sunday Social

You ever wake up on a weekend morning and find yourself with more to do than you would on a weekend? Well that's me. Today I had to come in to make some extra dough, even though I haven't been paid for the previous hours that I worked, and then I get to go home and do a bunch of me related work, including paying bills.... Uck!

But for now I am sticking with the Social aspect of my life. Please don't forget you only have less than a week left to enter the giveaway for Emily's 23rd Birthday! there are tons of fun stuff included.

1.) What am I looking forward to most this fall?
An Electric bill lower than $200, Pumpkin spice lattes, driving with my windows down again, and preparation for winter baking.
Things I am not: Having to wear business casual clothes instead of jeans to work, snow birds, and the retail chaos that is known as putting up Christmas stuff out during Halloween.

2.) Favorite sports teams:
The Phoenix Suns (though I may be the only one)
The Texas Longhorns
And any player that is going to win me money in my fantasy football draft this year.

3.) If I could go back to college is there one thing I would change?
I would actually have gone to a real University, and not a for profit one, and gone through the whole experience of college, joining a Sorority, and college parties with cute college boys.

4.) Favorite class ever.
Hands down High School Econ and Government. My teacher was hot, I had every hot guy in the school in those classes,  we got to hold mock trials, and one week was dedicated to nothing but playing monopoly.
My interior design courses were a very close second because I was crazy good at them.

5.)Reach into my purse and what is the first thing I grab?
Nothing because I don't carry a purse.

Confessional Sessional...

Ok I don't know what is up with that title but yyyeeeeaaaa you know what day it is.

Vodka and Soda

So what do I confess on this Wednesday?

Well let's start by saying that I have all of the inspiration to work, but not do the horrible tasks of my job that need to be done like accounting. So instead I am trying to think of all of the fun neglected portions of my job and work with them. Which means social media, looking for marketing products, creating the company handbook,  and all of my committee stuff.

I have been doing surprisingly well on eating my boring salad lunches and Smart Ones Microwaveable meals for dinner. But all I want today is a gigantic cheese burger with sautéed mushrooms and a side of seasoned wedge fries with cheese sauce. Because aunt flow is no where near and my inner fat child is screaming to be let out. A chocolate milkshake may be included in this fat child food fantasy.

My male best friend offered to take me to dinner to a place that I have been dying to try, and then wants to go to a cupcakery close by my work... and now all I want is the cupcakes. I mean I am going to go to dinner because he pays, and lets face it he makes 2x as much as I do without overtime. So he can afford the fancy dinner out. But I just really want the cupcakes.

I went to the Boston Terrier rescue website that I sent the little puppy to. They renamed him Opie and I really hate it. I mean it makes him seem like a little loser. Don't get me wrong I love Opie from SOA, but he was hot and that form of badass that you didn't care about his name. But this tiny little dog named Opie is going to get his butt kicked at the dog park, by a cat.

I really don't like this lady at work. Ok no one really likes her.... but she brought in chocolate so today I love her, and her sadly fried hair.

Speaking of hair, I have been super hair chop happy. So much so that I am about to go all Kaley Cuoco on my hair and get a pixie.

So from hair that my brother would trade me for in a heart beat; that I have only trimmed once in two years..

To this:

The only thing stopping me is the fact that I may or may not have to do my hair every day. BUT the advantage of having straight hair means that it is minimal. That and I have a round freaking face. I just don't know!! Help!

That's all folks!

Always Eat Dessert

Well here we are over halfway through the year, and while some people are sticking to those new years resolution.... I have not Some of us have not. Let's face it I we are human, and those diets and thoughts of giving up something are slightly inhumane.

Recently I went through a spurt of trying to eat really healthy and cutting out  all of the sweets. It was my goal to eat completely clean, and eat more fruits to take care of my sweet tooth. But when I would eat a piece of chocolate I would beat myself up for cheating. I simply underestimated my sweet tooth. Well I have decided to stop beating myself up about those tiny things and go by a basic motto.

So I guess that you could say that my guilty little pleasure is that I always eat dessert. After dinner, when someone brings in homemade, from scratch chocolate cake, or that chocolate bar you need just because it keeps you sane in that chaotic office. The key to always eating dessert, is moderation in how much dessert you eat. Because although you love that homemade, made from scratch chocolate cake; eating the entire thing is frowned upon in most establishments.

Life isn't worth the ups and downs if you can't enjoy the little things in life. And the little things in my world the little things take the shape of cupcakes.

What is your guilty pleasure?

This year she will be spending her birthday zip lining with her cousin & then co-hosting the Blogger Pajama Party. If you aren't a part of the Blogger PJ Party yet come and join us there!

Giveaway open to US Residents only, winner will be chosen 2 weeks from today.

Now onto the social questions of the week!

1. One item I wish I could splurge on right now.
Well right now that would be a new AC unit. This last Wednesday mine decided to kill over again. So here I am at my grandparents waiting til they get home to fix it. But if my AC were working like it should, I would totally splurge on a complete kitchen remodel.

2. If I had an entire.. ok I can't even finish this question because this is pretty much every weekend. A lot of the time if I have nothing to do I will just hang out, maybe do a movie marathon or maybe clean up the main portions or my house. My life is SO CRAY!

3. Next place I am visiting outside of my current city.
Well I would like to go up to Jerome or the Verde Valley to go to an AZ winery. It is always so gorgeous up there this time of year.

4. Neat freak or clutterbug?
Clutterbug, I am a total clutterbug. I try to not be but then life happens and next thing you know I have no clean dishes or laundry.

5. Favorite Summer Purchase?
Dole's Chocolate covered Banana Dips thingy's. They are pretty darn tasty.  I haven't really purchased anything huge this summer.

Currently (vol. 1)

Listening.. to the clicking of keyboards. It's funny that we can hear this sound and then all of a sudden you have like a chorus of ticking because secretly, and maybe subconsciously, you are now trying to type louder than the other person.

Thinking..right away, that my email is taking way too long to update, which means that it will be a busy Friday. Overall, that I wish I could just take a trip somewhere and just work from somewhere fun.

Smelling.. Someone made toast... and it is intoxicating. I may go sit in the break room just to smell the toast.

Wishing.. That so many people would not complain about the simple things. There has been so much chaos lately that the problem they have trying to upload their stolen music seams childish to complain about. It is all I have been hearing lately, silly little complaints.

Hoping..that I get my AC fixed soon for my fishes sake. The water in their tank was a tad bit warmer than normal. Hopefully they do not turn to stew with the heat and lack of insulation.

Wearing..Ankle skinnys and tanks that probably aren't the most appropriate to wear into work. But I have a sweater to go over just in case. All of it is very comfy though.

Loving.. my UP24 from Jawbone that was gifted to me. Never have I been yelled at by a device to go to bed. But this thing tells me when it is bed time.

Wanting..  The most perfect house that I found in Downtown Historic Phoenix with the gorgeous hard wood floors, wainscoting, and the perfect combination of open space and level changes. Plus it is only 300k for a fully renovated house which is decent for that location. Or I want to meet the Property Brothers. They have become my favorite little home renovation duo. I think I would go total fan girl.

Needing.. fffoooooooodddd... and a new book to read. I have been on a hiatus from my reading and blogging, so ultimately I feel like a slacker.

Feeling..Bleh. I think that is the best way to put it. I am happy that it is Friday, and I am more or less having a good start to it all. But it still feels like something is off. Ever have one of those days?

What are you currently up to?

Weekly Wrap Up

Before I get to the daily grind of my day, and it is going to be a fabulous one, lets go over where Ir really want to be which is Saturday.

The Rachael Way

Friday:
As much as I wanted to go and check out the newest movies in theatre, I felt like CRAP so I stayed in. While I managed to take a 5 hour nap, I also managed to clean my entire kitchen. It was clarifying and extremely boring.

Saturday:
I managed to get up early and go to Home Depot. I really, really, REALLY like going to Home Depot and Lowes even though I know that 3/4 of the stuff I want to do to my house I cannot afford in this short time frame. But I managed to get a new doggy door for Ghillie to put in while my grandparents are out of town for the month.I also managed to go to Costco. Needless to say I do not have to buy shampoo, conditioner, Excedrine, or tampons for the next 6-8 months. I feel sort of successful in life.

FYI if I tried to buy a new doggy door while the grandparents were in town it would be fixed with duck tape and bailing wire. Because that is how my grandpa rolls. And this face does not appreciate duck tape and bailing wire.

He is just so happy all the time!

Sunday:
Sunday was a little rough, only because I had to say goodbye to one of the sweetest little puppies. No he did not die, but he did go to a new foster home with two puppies his size. It was a bitter sweet moment watching someone else take him, because although I told myself that I wasn't attached. I did fall a little bit in love with that little Boston Terrier face of his.

And to drown out all of my sorrows, I went to see Step Up All In. I will say... I was totally expecting this to be a lot better. And although some of it was good, the story line and dance scenes were not up to the level I expected. I mean they had some of the best, and it just fell short. Hats off to them for using Emilio Dosal from SYTYCD though! I was super happy to see him in it, because I voted for him in the show.

That's all I have for now folks. Time to refill the coffee and get back to work.

Sunday Social

Happy Sunday everyone! Well this week has been full of adventures. I temporarily fostered a little Boston Terrier that I have named Thor. I have since been able to link up with the Boston Terrier rescue of Arizona  to get him a foster family and hopefully a forever home. I leave here in a hour or so to meet up with the lady in charge of the rescue.

So this week, besides watching over this little guy, I have been trying to schedule all of my little blog life.I have had some success with a couple of blog planners made up by two awesome individuals. If you want to check them out head to these two blogs.

Designs by Emily F: Free Printable Blog Planner
A Dose of Paige: Free Printables

I will be posting soon about what my little blog binder looks like.

Sunday Social

Let the Sunday Social commence!

1.) One show that I wish was on Netflix that isn't.
Ok I was a huge Sailor Moon fan, and still kinda am. So I wish that they would have it released on Netflix. Even on disc. I know hulu now has it but I really am having a hard time agreeing to pay to that on top of Netflix to watch one show.

2.) One song I wish they would play on the radio more.
I actually pray for them to stop playing songs. All of my favorites end up being played so much that I hate them. I listen to a lot of Spotify anyways.

3.) My favorite song to become a total rockstar to in my car.
Well any song that just kind of builds. Lately it has been Sweet Child of Mine by Guns and Roses. Or you stick with the classic rock out song, Wannabe by the Spice Girls.

4.) One movie/tv show that I quote a lot.
Pitch Perfect

5.) One silly thing that I do daily.
It all seems normal to me. But I guess.... Hiding my trashcan in the bathroom. I do it mainly so that Ghillie will not tear it up, but there are times where it is completely empty or he is not even home and I still put it in there. Damn dog has me trained.

Real and Quick Book Review: Along for the Ride

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen

Rating: 3/5
Main Character: Auden
Favorite Character: Heidi
Character I disliked the most: Auden's Dad

What I liked the most: I love how some of the characters truly grew with the book. Easy read, that made you feel slightly happy and mushy at the end.

What irritated me the most: I think that at one point I started mocking Auden by saying "first world problems" because literally the book was full of them.

Your parents got a divorce and are acting like idiots- first world problems.

You get to stay out until the ass crack of dawn, and your parents don't freak out or ground you because you don't have a curfew- first world problems.

You have no friends because you try to keep to yourself, but end up becoming a friend magnet in the end- first world problems.

Oh that boy you have been making googley eyes at actually likes you back but you create your own drama and push him away- first world problems.

Overall feelings: This was a pretty good pool read, and needless to say my poor copy got a tad bit wet. The book had a good flow, but was nothing too spectacular. All in all it was not one of my favorite Sarah Dessen books but it was still pretty good.

Weekend started off right!

IT'S MONDAY!!!! I don't think I have actually been this excited to be at work and for it to be Monday. I am not sure what form of crack I took this morning to be this happy but once I figure it out, I promise I will share. Maybe....

So Friday this happened!

All because some person we all know and love got a RAISE!!! AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! It pretty much set the tone of my weekend knowing that all of the crap that I have to deal with sometimes, truly pays off. I love my company and it's good to know they love me too.

Saturday
Well I spent $372 at Costco with someone else's money. It was fantastic! The worst part was then having to carry all of it up a flight of stairs. In the heat....

But then it proceeded to down pour later. And I did what any self respected Arizonian would do... I ran out to my patio and proceeded to dance and play in the rain until it started pelting me. And I watched the Internship (which I love), Tweeted about it, and then my post was favorited by the guy in the movie who plays Sal, from Sal's Pizza. I had a small fangirl moment when I saw who favorited it.

Sunday
I worked extra hours to make some blogcation spending money, but then I went home and cleaned a little and proceeded to watch Pitch Perfect and make a pan of brownies. Because that was how this awesome weekend needed to end. :)

Crushed it.

Sunday Social

So I am going to keep it short and sweet this Sunday, mainly because I am still in celebration mode and partially because my kitchen really needs some attention. So yea.

Gum or Mints?
Gum. I always end up eating mints like candy and then not feeling well because I ate the mints like candy.

Tea or coffee?
Okay... what kind of a crap question is this??? Obviously my love for both of these items is strong. So are we talking could only have one of them for the rest of my life? I can't even decide between that!

Fruits or Veggies?
Definitely fruits, I have never been a veggie person.

TV or Movies?
Netflix (does that count?) If not then hmmm... TV because eventually all of the movies wind up there. HA!

Candles or diffusers?
Candles! I never feel like diffusers actually work. I love the Target Red Velvet Cupcake soy candle. YU-UM!

August Wishes

HOW IS IT AUGUST??!!! I swear it was only March a month ago. This year has flown by so quickly that I haven't been able to keep up. Anyone  else feel this way?

So with today being the start of August, one must start the month off right. This month I want to:

-Donate all of the clothes I do not wear. I literally have 2 closets full of clothes and yet I only wear a few things. Time to do some fall organization.

- Refinish the top to my coffee table by making it a wood top rather than glass.

-Buy my very own vacuum cleaner so that I do not have to keep borrowing others. And a Swifter Wet Jet, because I hate to mop and the Rubbermaid one I bought is broken.

- Send the reptile that has been chilling at my house since February (who was supposed to go to his real home in May) back to his human. I hate feeling like that thing is dead and I really want my book case back.

- Eat all of the food that I buy. I am really REALLY bad at overbuying and letting things go bad. It needs to stop.

-Read more books instead of watching TV. My wonderful friend bought me a Kindle Fire HDX because I carted his butt around everywhere and made him dinner a few nights when he was working like crazy. So now I need fill up my little library and get reading!

- Get back to sponsoring people, I have been MIA for far to long.

- Reply back to every comment posted!

What are your goals for August?
